Diveheart
Jim Elliott, founder and president of Diveheart of Downers Grove, received the Glenn McIntyre Heritage Award at Aquarium of the Pacific’s 8th Annual Festival of Human Abilities on January 30. The award was given to Elliott honoring Diveheart’s work with children, adults and veterans with disabilities, and Diveheart’s vision for adaptive SCUBA diving and SCUBA therapy worldwide.
Below Elliott ,(white fins, top dive team on right), demonstrates and describes to a capacity crowd at the Aquarium of the Pacific, how to take down and control a quadriplegic diver, while Eric Castillo,(yellow mask bottom team on left) demonstrates how to take down and control a totally blind diver. Elliott & Castillo are working on bringing another Diveheart adaptive scuba training course to the aquarium for instructors, Divemasters and Dive Buddies in 2011.
