Empowering Divers with Disabilities: Diveheart Shines as Finalist in Sharecare Awards
Downers Grove, IL– June 9, 2023 – Diveheart is thrilled to announce that its video series, “Divers with Heart,” along with the videos “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Adaptive Dive Buddy & Advocate” and “Diving on the Autism Spectrum,” have been named finalists in the prestigious 2023 Sharecare Awards. These awards recognize outstanding productions and programs that promote well-being and embody the spirit of “sharing care.”
The “Divers with Heart” video series showcases the incredible journeys of adaptive scuba divers with various disabilities. These videos celebrate the power of determination, resilience, and the transformative impact of scuba diving on individuals’ lives.
In the video “Diving on the Autism Spectrum,” viewers are introduced to a diver with Autism. They will witness the profound effect scuba diving has on their sensory experience as they gracefully navigate the depths of the ocean, completely immersed in a tranquil and stimulating environment. This video beautifully showcases how adaptive scuba can create a sense of belonging and identity.
The video “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Adaptive Dive Buddy & Advocate” spotlights an adaptive dive buddy who is also an LGBTQ advocate. Viewers will witness their embrace of the role in supporting fellow divers with disabilities, while openly discussing the intersections of their identity and their passion for diving. This video not only highlights the inclusive nature of Diveheart but also emphasizes the importance of representation and acceptance within the scuba diving community.
“Each finalist was mindfully selected from hundreds of entries submitted across the 13 awards categories, and we congratulate Diveheart for emerging as one of four selected in the Behavioral/Mental Health, Healthy Living, and Social Storytelling categories,” said Donna Hill Howes, chief nursing officer of Sharecare. “Selected by our competition’s esteemed Academy of Judges, comprised of renowned experts in health and media, and their juries, Diveheart’s entries exemplify the inspiring commitment to ‘sharing care’ that the Sharecare Awards seeks to elevate and honor.”

Beginning in September, category finalists will be showcased and winners revealed across Sharecare’s social media profiles on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. Additionally, for the first time since the inaugural Sharecare Awards, the fifth annual competition will culminate with an in-person celebration on Monday, Oct. 9, when select winners, including recipients of the Sharing Care Award, Outstanding Foundation of the Year, and Person of the Year will be revealed live on stage at HLTH 2023 in Las Vegas.
