Jim Elliott of Diveheart Named Humanitarian of the Year by WSPN

Jim Elliott, president/founder of Diveheart won WSPN’s Humanitarian of the Year Award. Fifteen-year old Evelyn Felipez, a Diveheart participant, presented him with the prestigious award.


Diveheart is a not-for-profit organization that provides scuba diving instruction and opportunities to children, adults and veterans with disabilities. Elliott founded Diveheart in 2001, leaving a successful career in media to become a full-time volunteer for the organization.

The West Suburban Philanthropic Network provides guidance, networking opportunities, and education to those who serve nonprofit organizations in the western suburbs.

Diveheart One of 16 Charities Benefiting from Chicagoland Dealers Care Program

Diveheart was honored to be one of the charitable organizations to receive a donation from the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. The CATA donated $8,000 to 16 local charitable organizations as part of the Chicagoland Dealers Care program.

Diveheart was nominated by Bill Kay Chevrolet.

Diveheart President Wins Volunteer of the Year Award



Diveheart president/founder Jim Elliott received The Classy Award for Volunteer of the Year on September 22nd. The CLASSY Awards is the largest philanthropic awards ceremony in the country, celebrating the greatest charitable achievements by nonprofit organizations, socially conscious businesses, and individuals worldwide. In 2011, nearly 2,000 organizations and volunteers were nominated for a CLASSY Award, and their collective efforts impacted the lives of more than 200,000,000 people in 71 countries worldwide.  Jim was flown out to San Diego as a guest of Classy Awards, by Southwest Airlines for the event. Diveheart Named Charity of Choice for Ballydoyle’s 2012 Annual Golf Outing


Phil Cullen Owner of Ballydoyle’s Irish Pub & Restaurant launches his annual golf outing at Big Run Golf course in Lockport, IL June 20th announcing that his charity of choice to benefit from this year’s outing is Diveheart.


Here Cullen meets with Diveheart president Jim Elliott & Diveheart intern Colleen Mahoney before the shotgun  start that saw 180 golfers brave the ninety degree temperatures as they challenged the links at Big Run.

Marine Corps League Supports Diveheart


Members of the DuPage County Marine Corps League present a check to Diveheart president Jim Elliott to help support the Diveheart Military Wounded program. The check presentation took place during the Sgt Tommy’s Kid’s Annual Fishing Event at Herrick Lake in Wheaton Illinois. Tommy Gilbert, son of Mike and Terry Gilbert of Downers Grove, Illinois was killed in action in Iraq while serving his country in the US Marine Corps.
